Lisa Cohn has worked as a writer for more than 20 years, focusing on topics ranging from parenting to environmental issues.

Her work has appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, Mothering, Parenting, Brain, Child: The Magazine For Thinking Mothers, Business Week, Alaska Airlines Magazine, Mother Earth News, Natural Home, Open Spaces, Your Stepfamily and other publications. Lisa is co-author of The Step-tween Survival Guide, published by Free Spirit, which made the Voice of Youth Advocate’s (VOYA) annual Nonfiction Honor List, and was a finalist for the ForeWord Book of the Year in the Juvenile Nonfiction category. Lisa is co-founder, along with her brother--sports psychology expert Patrick Cohn, Ph.D.--of The Ultimate Sports Parent (www.youthsportspsychology.com). Lisa and Patrick are co-authors of "The Ultimate Sports Parent: A 14-Day Plan for Kids' Success in Sports." Lisa hosts a popular sports parenting podcast, "Ultimate Sports Parent Radio."

As an author, Lisa has been quoted by the Associated Press, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor and Seattle Times and has appeared on ABC Radio Network's "Satellite Sisters" and many nationally syndicated radio shows.

Lisa has received more than ten writing awards. In addition to the awards for her books, she received a Willamette Writers Kay Snow Second Place Award for first-person story about panic disorder in her family. She was a finalist in the Pacific Northwest Writers Association 2004 Literary Contest and received a 2004 Gold National Parenting Publications Award for "One Family, Two Family, New Family." She also received a 2001 nonfiction award from Willamette Writers for a personal-experience piece about her family and a 1999 Silver Award from Parenting Publications of America. She has received several fiction and nonfiction awards from the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, a second award from Willamette Writers and a business writing award from Associated Oregon Industries.

A graduate of Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, and Boston University's School of Public Communication, Lisa is a former staff reporter for the Cape Cod Times, a daily newspaper in Hyannis, Massachusetts. She is a former staff reporter for a trade newspaper published by Capital Cities/ABC Inc., New York City, and a former associate editor of Oregon Business.
